TOmaia montero has decided to speak out after days of rumors, criticism and inflammatory headlines following the first concerts back with La Oreja de Van Gogh in Bilbao. The singer has published a long statement on his social networks in which he categorically denies that he is thinking about leave the tour and vindicates the personal and professional moment he is going through with the band.
It all arose after the performances in Bilbao, where thousands of people celebrated Amaia’s return to the group almost two decades later. However, social networks were also filled with comments about vocal problems, awkward moments on stage and speculation about emotional state of the artist. Some media outlets even claimed that she was “devastated” and was considering canceling the tour.
Far from it, Amaia assures that the only thing she did after the concerts was disappear for a few days to rest: “I arrived from Bilbao, I took a shower, I tied my hair up, I put on my pajamas and that’s where it all began: I rested like a girl after her best birthday.”

The singer explains that it was precisely a call from a friend asking him if he was going to leave the tour the one that made him discover the commotion that had been created on networks and media. His response, according to what he says, was a laugh followed by a “resounding NO”.
In the statement he also sends a fairly direct message towards the criticisms and rumors: “The noise and lies of people who don’t do it are still there but it’s still just noise”.
Amaia is excited to be back with the band and remembers the atmosphere she experienced in Bilbao along with more than 30,000 attendees: “I am so proud of Van Gogh’s Ear… I said it on stage: we are back, we are really back”.
